The Masks!

When I was at the Gallery a few weeks ago, the woman who does the windows was saying she wished she had some masks to put in the window for Halloween.  Since I had been thinking of making masks and had already gotten some books, I told her I would do my best to make some for her...but was making no promises.
Here is what I made !!!

The COBBLER

Today's art !!!   I don't do a lot of baking or cooking so when I do, it's kind of a big deal around here.  I learned how to bake when I was about 8; and until recent years, I did more of it.  I'm a pretty good baker, but, there are things I've never tried and blackberry cobbler was one of them.  It is BLACKBERRY season here in the mountains; and our mountain has lots of blackberry bushes on it.  Rick had picked a couple of cups of berries and yesterday, I went out and pick a couple more and made this wonderful cobbler.   Our summer neighbor and friend, Billy C, had contributed some, so of course, he got some of the cobbler.  It's the second one I made this year, but probably not the last.  I make pretty good cobbler !!!!!

Mikey

Sometimes, I just can't help myself.  Michael has had four broken noses over the years.  I guess that's not the best way to say it.  He has only one nose.  He's broken it four (4!) times.  He recently posted a pic of one of those times on FB; and I used it to make this portrait.

Camilla Faye

A while back, Christy had a FB post that said, " Saw a little girl climb onto a sand dune, put her arms in the air and proclaim, 'I'm princess of the world!' And she was."  This put in image in my mind that I had to draw...and here it is.  I love that Story People stuff !!!   (Can't really see it unless you click on it to view bigger.)

The Gallery

The Gallery is a shop for artisans (sort of like a co-op) located in the Iron Horse station in Hot Springs, NC.  On the last day of May, I became a vendor!!!

Hot Springs is only 25 miles from here, but the trip is anywhere from 50 min to an hour because of all of the bends, twists and turns in the road.  It is called the Rattler.  I think that's what it's called anyway...something like that...the rattler, the snake, the rattle snake...whatever.   One of these days, I'm going to take pics along the way.  Great potential.

I found all of my display furniture at Scallywags, a consignment furniture store in Waynesville.  AND,  for only $86.00 total.

Rick is helping me make the best of the 3 feet X 2 1/2 feet space.

So far...so good.

The South Wing Has Been Renovated !

Yes, I finally decided that I no longer want to bang my head against a wall trying to change opinions of others; or enlighten them with actual facts.  It's depressing to me and making me sad.  I can only hope that those who try to gather and assimilate information outnumber those who try to find information that suits their beliefs regardless of the validity of the information.  Our government is broken and I'm afraid it cannot be fixed. There seems to be no such thing as discussion and compromise any longer -- everyone wants it their way.  We are destroying our country and this planet and rather than looking for ways to steer a better course, people are worried about who marries whom and what it says on our money.  People are confusing God with country; and morals with religion.   People don't want truth, they want their beliefs justified.  I'm tired and sad and wasting my time.  So, I'm going to concentrate on thinking happy thoughts and finding ways to be creative and productive.  Glenn Beck is going to the archives, which is probably where he belongs anyway.
